Government Support
The Australian Government fully endorses the AEC principles and aspirations to secure 50,000 sustainable jobs for Indigenous Australians.
This goal is consistent with the Government’s commitment to Closing the Gap in the employment of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
The Australian Government will contribute in the following ways:
-
To assist in bridging the job ready gap for the 50,000 Indigenous Australians guaranteed employment by the AEC by coordinating and facilitating training to the appropriate job standards of the employing industry.
-
To use expanded and enhanced employment services architecture to facilitate the training and post-placement and mentor support for eligible Indigenous Australians – the proposed reforms announced by the Australian Government with respect to the universal employment services and the CDEP and Indigenous Employment Programs will provide important contributions in this regard.
-
To use Government funded employment services to facilitate referral, placement and support processes involving the take up of AEC jobs by eligible Indigenous job seekers.
Where necessary, to offer dedicated staff to assist larger employers connect to Australian Government support.
