Employers - Getting the workplace ready

Employers play a large role in the success of the Australian Employment Covenant.
As an employer involved in the AEC, you commit to provide real jobs to Indigenous people who successfully complete AEC endorsed training programs tailored to your specifications.

Where the Covenant comes into its own is that you, as an employer, recruit the people you need.  You only employ the person once he/she reaches your employment specifications and is available at your place of work.

This uptake commitment is to accurately reflect the operational needs of your business. That is, the placement of AEC workers is anticipated to fill opportunities that arise in the normal course of business activity and staff turnover.

You will work together with the AEC implementation team and Government to determine the specific requirements of training according to skill level and geographic location.

Your business will be required to provide support to volunteer workplace mentors who assist new Indigenous workers into employment.
