The AEC is an employer driven national collaboration to improve Indigenous economic participation. As such, employers and employment service providers will play a large role in the success of the AEC.

The AEC advocates a “learn to earn policy” for all Australians who have the capacity to work. Nowhere is this more critical than to those members of the Indigenous community who currently exist on welfare.

The AEC is the first of its kind and represents a significant commitment to providing the majority of Indigenous Australians, who are prepared to work with a real opportunity to achieve their full potential as productive members of Australian society.

Our purpose is to work together to achieve the following;
 

• Short term, skills based training programs based on employers needs to prepare job seekers

• Placement of 50,000 Indigenous people into work with sustainable employment

• The provision of 50,000 workplace mentors, the Heroes, to provide support to new workers
