Job Ready, Job Set, Job Go

Job Ready – Job Ready is about getting prepared before the Job Set training or employment starts.

AEC Employers will be looking at what jobs they have available, what training will be required and ensuring that their workplace provides a supportive and equal work environment. Employers will also make sure they have one on one mentors available to assist you once you join the workplace.

As a Job Seeker, you can get Job Ready by making sure you understand the requirements of job and the training before you start (Check out the fact sheets). You should also understand your responsibilities and commit to meeting those. Once you have a job, sometimes it won’t be easy but with commitment you will see the tremendous benefits of having a job such as being able to support yourself, opening up opportunities for the future, learning new things and meeting new people.

Job Set – These are the skills based training programs tailored to meet the employer’s needs.

That is, the employer tells the trainer exactly what you need to know to start in your job. The training program is then developed to train Job Seekers in these areas. The difference with Job Set training is that you are training for a guaranteed job. This may require an accredited Certificate program but many times it will require a shorter, skills based program. If you successfully complete the program you are guaranteed a job!

Job Go – Once you are Ready and Set it is time to Go.

This is when you start employment in your new job. You will be connected with a one on one workplace mentor. This person is there to help you out, guide you and answer any questions you have. Communicate with your mentor on a regular basis and listen to the advice they can give. Starting a new job is an exciting and busy time, however sometimes there may be challenges in a new situation. Using your mentor will make these much easier to deal with. Be as open and honest as possible and ask any questions as soon as they arise.
